Books to Read Together
Reading to children is a great way to spark an interest in stories and help them gain confidence in reading. Often we stop this as soon as children become independent readers, but there's research to show that's there benefits including bonding, supporting cognitive development, stimulate their imagination and helps with concentration.
With dyslexic or reluctant readers it's also an opportunity in a safe environment for them to ask questions about the story. I often take turns reading one page whilst my youngest reads the next page, which had really helped in developing her reading skills and helped her to grow in confidence.
